Environmentalist

Romauld 'Romi' Ferreira, Founding Partner

Romi holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Ecology and Chemistry from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London.  He was also called to both the Bar of England and Wales at Lincolns Inn and The Bahamas Bar in 2000 and 2001, respectively.


Romi is the founding partner of Ferreira & Company and specializes in environmental law.  His practice includes litigation, corporate services and legislative drafting and policy review in relation to the environmental sector. 


Romi served as the Minister of The Environment (2017-2021) and is an affiliate member of The Bahamas Society of Engineers.

Erica M. Pople-Ferreira, Managing Partner

  

Erica joined the firm in 2016.  Her practice focuses on real estate law, corporate law, estate planning, probate law, legislative drafting and policy review. 


She previously served as a senior officer at one of Nassau’s oldest trust companies and was responsible for managing complex fiduciary and corporate structures for high net worth clients and overseeing corporate pension plans. She also served as a director of several the establishment’s resident and non-resident nominee companies and Senior Officer I of a non-resident bank.


Erica is a local expert in non-profit incorporations and has drafted incorporation documents for non-profit organizations in various sectors including environmental, agricultural and entertainment industries. 


She also has thirty (30) years experience in managing intellectual property portfolios, inclusive of trade marks, design copyrights, copyrights and patents.  She currently co-chairs the Intellectual Property Committee of The Bahamas Bar Association and is an advocate for the modernization of The Bahamas’ intellectual property legislation.  She has also served as  a 2 Year Committee Member of the International Trademark Association (INTA)


Further, Erica served as a sub-consultant tasked with drafting legislation to restructure a local public utility company.  She also served as a legal sub-consultant for drafting procurement rules in relation to the electricity sector.

Lucine B. Lindsay, Office Manager

  

With over 30 years of experience in operations, client service, and compliance, Lucine ensures the smooth day-to-day running of Ferreira & Company. She combines exceptional organizational skills with a client-focused approach, supporting both attorneys and clients to ensure matters are handled efficiently and with the utmost professionalism.


Her background includes senior administrative and client-facing roles in the insurance industry, where she was recognized with multiple Employee of the Year awards for outstanding performance. She is skilled in coordinating workflows, managing sensitive information, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing guidance and support to staff.

Known as a natural communicator and hands-on problem solver, Lucine plays a key role in maintaining the firm’s high service standards and welcoming environment.

Crisonna Andrews-Deleveaux, Paralegal

 Crisonna holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She is also a certified mediator, having completed training with Phoenix Dispute Solutions Limited—an approved training provider accredited by the International Mediation Institute (IMI), the Civil Mediation Council (CMC), and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Before joining the firm, Crisonna gained practical experience at both the Supreme Court and Family Court in Tobago, where she supported judicial officers, managed court filings, and liaised with attorneys and the public. She also served as a Legal Research Officer at the Tobago House of Assembly and as a Paralegal in the public procurement sector, where she contributed to contract development, legislative review, and regulatory compliance.

She is a member of WIPO ADR Young, a global forum for emerging professionals with a shared interest in intellectual property and alternative dispute resolution.
 

Sharmatie Lockhart, IP Specialist


Sharmatie brings more than 15 years of legal experience to our team, with a special focus on trademarks and intellectual property matters. Known for her attention to detail and warm, approachable manner, she helps clients protect and manage their IP with skill and efficiency.


From filing and renewing trademarks to preparing legal documents and keeping records organized, Sharmatie ensures every step runs smoothly. She’s also proficient in a range of legal and administrative software, making her a go-to resource for both colleagues and clients.


Currently pursuing her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of The Bahamas, Sharmatie blends hands-on expertise with a passion for continuous learning—always aiming to deliver the best results with a personal touch.
